As young men James and Brian began their painting careers on opposite continents. James, born on a U.S. Air Force base just outside London England, began his 3 year apprenticeship under the watchful eye of a local contrator that was granted the task of painting various historical buildings. His work also took him to the coastal area of Dartmouth, Devon U.K., home of the British Royal Naval Academy, where he continued to hone his skills over the next 10 years as a master craftsman. Soon he would bring his painting expertise across the pond to the U.S..

On the other hand, Brian, comes from two generations of painting contractors doing business in a small Southern Illinois railway community 60 miles outside of St. Louis Mo.. It was there that Brian began his Union apprenticeship program and learned not only the manuel skills of a master craftsman, but also, with the help of his father, began to learn the day to day business of the trade. In the early 1980's Brian and his father began securing military base painting contracts which took them to countless locations around the country. After the death of his father in 1992, Brian secured a contract at Eglin Air Force Base where he met an Englishman who had just arrived from England. It was then and there that a great friendship developed and soon they would team up to establish one of the most premier painting companies on the Emerald Coast of Florida, Van Gogh Painters Inc.

James and Brian understand that their employees are the backbone of the company.
